April is one of my favorite times to travel because of the weather and the fewer crowds. And I’m sure you will agree once you’re here. The heart of spring is simply spectacular in Greece. If you want to see why, keep reading and discover the best Greek islands in April.

Known for its lush greenery and Venetian architecture, Corfu should be on the top of your bucket list for holidays in April.

It’s no wonder thousands of visitors flock to its capital to witness the unique Greek Easter celebrations and Greeks smashing pots in style – a tradition you’ll see nowhere else.

Most importantly, the weather in Corfu in April is mild, with temperatures ranging from 15 to 20 degrees Celsius, making it ideal for outdoor activities.

If you ask me, these are excellent conditions to relax on Corfu’s beautiful beaches, such as Paleokastritsa and Agios Gordios.

Finally, one of the must-visit places in Corfu is the Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Stroll through its narrow streets, and you’ll feel like you’re in a storybook with colorful buildings and hidden squares surrounding you. 

Sifnos: Cycladic Gem, Culinary Haven

A lesser-known gem in the Cyclades, Sifnos is a dream destination for families and couples seeking tranquility and natural beauty.

In April, the island blooms with wildflowers and a radiant spring smell – the perfect backdrop for romantic walks and peaceful hikes. 

There are many things to do in Sifnos. For example, trekking to Chrysopigi Monastery and experiencing the breathtaking view from above will give you goosebumps.

If you want something milder, the island’s charming village of Apollonia won’t disappoint. Picture narrow streets adorned with whitewashed houses and colorful bougainvillea, and in the middle of it all you!

Once you’re done walking, it’s time to experience the island’s culinary delights.

Sifnos is famous for its gastronomy, so there’s no need to worry about what to eat in Sifnos! Try local specialties like revithada (chickpea soup) and mastelo (slow-cooked lamb).

And, of course, spend some time relaxing on the Sifnos’ beautiful beaches, such as Platis Gialos and Vathi.

Rhodes: Golden Beaches, Knights’ Heritage

Rhodes, the largest of the Dodecanese islands, offers a perfect blend of history, culture, and natural landscape. After all, the island is far enough south for warm temperatures without getting too hot.

That’s the perfect setting to visit Rhode’s medieval Old Town. Visiting this UNESCO World Heritage site and wandering through its cobblestone streets will make you feel like you’ve traveled back in time. 

Next, don’t miss exploring the Palace of the Grand Master. This magnificent castle offers panoramic city views to its lucky visitors.

For a touch of nature, head to the Valley of the Butterflies. Here, you can witness the mesmerizing sight of thousands of butterflies fluttering among the trees.

At the end of the day, find a seaside taverna in Mandraki Harbor, taste fresh seafood, and savor the sea breeze.

The dancing lights on the water and the mild temperature will create a tranquil atmosphere that will elevate your April evening.

The weather is ideal for outdoor exploration, with temperatures between 16 to 21 degrees. You won’t need a jacket and don’t have to worry about hot temperatures – the best of both worlds.

Learn from the Knossos Palace’s ancient ruins or the Archaeological Museum of Heraklion if you love history. If you’re in the mood to venture out, explore Agia Irini Gorge or Falasarna Beach.

Naxos: Mountains, Beaches, Ancient Temples

Naxos is another Greek destination ideal for outdoor adventures and cultural exploration. Once you step on the island, you’ll encounter a perfect blend of natural beauty, ancient history, and traditional charm.

To top it all off, the island is in full bloom in April, with temperatures above 14 and below 19 degrees.

There are dozens of fantastic things to do in Naxos, but there’s no need to feel overwhelmed. Start your exploration of Naxos by visiting its capital, Chora.
